Kinslayer is free points because you don't have a dynasty yet anyway. Highly recommended !įor anyone with access to a monastic society, Celibate is -28 years and can be removed by reaching rank 2 and renouncing your vow. I try to tweak my starting to be no more than 30-40 or so, that gives me a pretty good starting character but also a decent life expectancy, high Martial skill also adds to your health which gives you an even longer life.įWIW there is a mod in the Steam shop called 'A Sensible New Family' that works with Ruler Designer and adds an Intrigue Decision at the start of the game to build a custom starting family, including a back story, parents and siblings. When your realm is small martial skills are at a premium, you only need good Stewardship, Intrigue and Diplomacy later on when your realm has grown a lot bigger. For a one county start that means building a lean, mean fighting machine with massive Martial and Personal Combat skills. My experience with RD was that it was best to try and build a savant with one or two excellent attributes and ignore the rest. One good one I tried was Kinslayer - it gives a big reduction in starting age and only causes opinion penalties to your own dynasty, but at start you should have nil or very few other dynasty members. Stressed is also good as Carousing and or Hunting via the Way of Life foci remove it and it doesn't affect your health as much as Wounded. The all time favourite trait for Ruler Designer is Wounded - it can be treated with a good physician and eventually goes leaving Scarred, which is actually a bonus (extra Prestige every month). It feels like I am missing something when creating a decent character? Anyways, Ironman is of no concern to me yet, so mods are fine, but it kinda feels like cheating a bit and I would like to know how I can make legit good characters which are also below the age of 80. So I designed my own duchess, but she instantly hits coffin age if I try to make her above average. The thing is, I would like to play as a female ruler but could only make it work on my very first Ireland tutorial campaign with tanistry succession law. I also got a good chunk of CK2 DLCs and was trying to learn all the new added mechanics with a good custom ruler, to make it a bit easier. Any tips on how to save age points? seems to be much easier to create a decent custom nation in EU4 with only 50 points btw. I wanted to start a new campaign with a custom character, I bought that ruler designer for that purpose but I just can't seem to create a good character that isn't basically dead as soon as I unpause the game.
